Letting Go

I know it's been only a week since I sent Bastien and Ana off to the editor who requested it (and she's confirmed receipt y'all, so big yays that the two lovebirds didn't end up in cyber no man's land!).

BUT, withdrawal from characters you've been living and breathing for months on end is proving harder that I thought. I tried delving into another story but so far, no dice. Giselle and Seb have got their own journey with a lot of angst brewing (I'm sure), but so far they're giving me nothing...NOTHING! Well, ok...a measly half page.

So it got me thinking. Maybe I just need a little more "downtime" or "mourning time" to get over Bastien and Ana before I commit to Giselle and Seb. But even knowing this, I'm beginning to panic a little because what if G&S go into a sulk and won't talk to me when I finally get my act together? How much mourning period is enough? And how do I get over it?

PS - resorting to chocolate is no longer an option. Yes, it's January and the diet is back on, unfortunately *sigh*

  1. Give it a week, Maya then try again. I'm finding it very difficult to refind my mojo after Christmas, esp writing a new story. Hope the ed hurries up and reads Bastien and Ana!

As for the other, if you come up with answers, I'd love to hear them!

  4. Hi - I've popped over from Donna Alward's blog. Good luck with coaxing a story from G&S. Plunging into watching films in my time period or genre usually works for me.

  6. Hi Julia, great of you to stop by. Downton Abbey certainly helped take my mind off things, but I think I need a different sort of film to get the juices going. Rom coms usually do it for me...hmmm maybe it's time to dig out some oldies :)

  7. Darn I was going to suggest chocolate. The evil diet fairies have taken it away. What about wine? ;)

  8. Oh, wine *could* work, but then it'll let me crave the chocolate, darn it!
