I must confess, I’m a title whore. Catchy book titles make me yearn to crack them open, discover their innerds. Case in point – Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. That immediately grabbed my attention. Another title – The Lovely Bones. Of course any Harlequin title with Sheikh in it gets my undivided attention too! I could go on and on.
So imagine my frustration when I can’t seem to come up with any decent ones for my books! I had a book titled From A Whisper To A Scream, which I particularly loved.
Unfortunately, I was alone in that title love. That book, sold to AN Other publisher, went on to become another title, which I loved btw and almost wished I’d come up with myself.
But I’m beginning to realise that I have no talent when it comes to naming my stories. That said, I know not to sweat the small stuff because there’s someone whose job it is to come up with a title that sells the book. Can’t help wishing that maybe… just once, I could come up with a knockout title that blows an editor’s sock off.
Yeah, I know, I’ll carry on dreaming…
How about you? Do book titles make you want to read or scream?

Revisions – I have some!!!
You know the saying about waiting or a bus for a looong time, then three come along at once? This isn’t like that, ha ha. Well, only the waiting part, but finally, I’m happy to report that I’ve heard back on my manuscript! Hippity Yippity Yaayyyy!
In all the scenarios that have replayed in my mind over the last 22 months, getting The Call featured high on the list, of course, as I’m sure it does in every author’s. But my absolute second best scenario was to be asked for revisions, because let’s face it, the only other option would be a big fat, dreaded REJECTION, right?
So imagine my delight when I opened my email this morning to find a note from the editor at Harlequin Mills & Boon. I must confess I didn’t immediately jump for joy. Until I saw the little paperclip next to the subject line. I thought, would the editor send me a rejection as an attachment?
My fingers shook a little as I clicked on the email and that was when I saw the words “Revision Letter”! Cue mini happy dance. Couldn't go the full hog cos I was at work, where happy dancing is generally discouraged :(
So there is it, folks, I have REVISIONS, which means there is still hope for this ms yet! I’ll go into further detail once I’ve read, re-read and digested the 3 pages of *cough*-stinky-*cough* things that are wrong with my ms and how I’m going to fix it.
And if any veterans out there want to throw some advice my way, it’ll be happily received :)
Have a lovely weekend!

Baby Steps
Lately, I’ve been feeling a little meeh about writing. To be honest I haven’t written anything new in almost three weeks! It’s been a combination of losing my mojo, family life (seriously) getting in the way and general lethargy. Even finally hearing back about my ms (it was neither good nor bad, more like slightly annoying, but that's another post) didn't lift me out of my funk.
But through this miasma of general meeh-ness, I always carried my trusty memory stick with me, just in case. I never doubted I’d get my mojo back, or that I’d finally get the sudden urge to pound the keyboard but it scared the hell out of me that it was taking so long to return and that I couldn’t find any interest in my own writing.
I am happy to report though that I managed to bang out three pages of my new story in the middle of the last night. It's not much, but it's a start and I'm beginning to feel story love again. Am I complaining that this has happened in the middle of one of the busiest weeks in my life? Well, a little. But at least I can finally see the light at the end of my gloom and I'm content.
Who knows, today three pages, tomorrow (er, not quite but, you know), a brand spanking new completed story!
I might be bleary-eyed from lack of sleep, but I live in hope

Because...Just Because...
I've been a bad blogger lately. I also haven't written much in the last couple of weeks.
But sometimes a girl just needs to chill. So until I get my writing mojo back, I'm posting a picture to cheer us all up. Caution - it's the broody, intense type of cheer that I bring. Enjoy!

If that didn't work for you and you prefer something a bit more, er, cerebral, see if you can spot the design flaw in this next picture!

Have a great week, everyone!
