*Not* Letting Go

I thinks the gods heard my plaintive post earlier this week about letting go and have mercifully replied because it seems I won’t have to let Bastien and Ana go after all (scroll down or click here).

Yes my lovely blog pals and readers, I’ve heard from the Editor. IN JUST NINE DAYS! I’m sure people have heard back quicker than this but considering I was bedding down for a long, long wait (I gave myself six months minimum), you can imagine my shock when I opened my email on Wednesday to find an email from the editor. She wants revisions *small sigh*. But these are totally doable and even better, she gave some lovely examples of how the ms can be improved! I love that!!

So I have my lovely Bastien and Ana back for at least a month (I have a deadline, people!) before I have to say goodbye again, but believing they’ll be going back shinier, happier and even more in love than they already are is giving me a great boost!

Wish me luck my friends because I need all the help I can get.

Letting Go

I know it's been only a week since I sent Bastien and Ana off to the editor who requested it (and she's confirmed receipt y'all, so big yays that the two lovebirds didn't end up in cyber no man's land!).

BUT, withdrawal from characters you've been living and breathing for months on end is proving harder that I thought. I tried delving into another story but so far, no dice. Giselle and Seb have got their own journey with a lot of angst brewing (I'm sure), but so far they're giving me nothing...NOTHING! Well, ok...a measly half page.

So it got me thinking. Maybe I just need a little more "downtime" or "mourning time" to get over Bastien and Ana before I commit to Giselle and Seb. But even knowing this, I'm beginning to panic a little because what if G&S go into a sulk and won't talk to me when I finally get my act together? How much mourning period is enough? And how do I get over it?

PS - resorting to chocolate is no longer an option. Yes, it's January and the diet is back on, unfortunately *sigh*

Kicking A$$ And Taking Names!!

Okay, so I didn't kick a$$, not literally. And no, I didn't actually take any names either. *looks around sheepishly*

BUT, I did do one thing yesterday though, and that was to SEND OFF THE BOOK!!

Cue biggest SQUEEEEE EVAH!!! I spent the weekend polishing, primping and powdering it to within an inch of its life. Right this minute, Bastien & Ana should be having their post-landing-in-editor's-inbox celebratory brunch (unless I clicked on the wrong button and sent them to cyber no man's land - it's been known to happen!)

You have no idea how relieved I am that this ms has gone. And to celebrate, I've decided to do something different. No it's not shopping for shoes or more books, although... wait...no, the DH would kill me, fer sure!!

No, it involves more writing (alas the disease, it is ravaging!).

I've been thinking, it's time to tackle another single title. Now I have two stories pecking away at me - Naomi's story set in Alaska with Mason the lumberjack (stop smirking!), or Giselle's story set in the spectacular South American country of Belize. Both were started last year and are in various stages of completion, and Giselle's story is more advanced, but I'm torn as I'm equally excited about both. So I need your help deciding.

What do you think? Giselle or Naomi?

Sizzling Irish Hotties

Bet that got your attention! Well, they're not here.

They're over on the Minxes Blog where we're conducting a poll for your favourite Irish heartthrob.

So get over there, NOW!

Oh, and Happy New Year again. May all your wishes and aspirations for 2011 be fulfilled.

Love,

Maya xx
