Yayy! I'm very happy to report that I heard from the ed on my revised synopsis last week. Overall she's happy with what I've done (or propose to do). There were one or two changes she wanted me to make but they are totally doable, so I'm very excited! I'd hoped to start the ms ripping this weekend but, alas, sick daughter got in my way (cheeky child!).
It wasn't all her fault though. Got stuck into second book of the Milliennium series - The Girl Who Played With Fire - and wow, I just couldn't put that baby down. I'm literally pages from finishing and it's absolutely brilliant. If you get the chance to read it - do!
But back to the subject at hand and sorry for digressing, I'm pschyed about this ms again and really happy I didn't give up on it. Hopefully, I can make it a better, stronger ms and who knows, I might also learn something or two in the process. Challenging oneself is good, if a little scary. I'm also a little scared that I'll be subbing the revised ms to a new ed once it's done (the ed I mentioned earlier is leaving HMB, *sob*), but I guess I'll worry about that once the time comes, eh?
Now...who's going to RWA Nationals, RNA?? I'm hoping to meet up with a few of the Minxes at the RNA Conference so I'm very, very excited!!! Would love to hear what everyone's been up to before I disappear into the revisions cave, so dish!
Maya
Mega congras, Maya!! Crossing fingers for you! I'm sure the new editor will be fabulous and she will love it. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie. I haven't uncrossed my fingers for you either, girl, so hang in there!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news, chica! I don't get to hit any RWA conventions this year, but I am going to RomCon. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Piper. Yay on RomCon. When is it? Hope you have lots of fun. Just think, we won't be conference virgins this time next year, lol.
ReplyDeleteYay, Maya! That's fantastic news! Well, except the part obout your ed leaving, but good is good, and you're good. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI get to go to RWA Nationals this year, which is going to be amazing and my first ever conference!
Good luck on the writing Maya. Adjusting to a new ed is one of those things that writers have to do - I've done it 14 times!
ReplyDeleteI'll be at RNA - have to be as I'm teaching a class so do come and say hello and if I can help with anything I will
See you soon
Thanks, Maisey! Hope the revisions don't break me, lol. My brother and his family are at Disney at the moment having a fab time. I'm sure you'll have a great conference there, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, so lovely of you to stop by with encouragement. 14 editors! Wow, that's amazing! I'll be sure to come and say hello at the conference. Look forward to meeting you :).
ReplyDeleteHope your daughter's better and revisions are going well. Pity about your ed, but as Jackie said, I'm sure your new one will love you, too.
